Black Walnut Solid Wood Dining Table

The Homsee Black Walnut Dining Table measures 83.8" W × 35.4" D × 31.1" H and seats 8 people. Designers allow about 24–30" of table length per diner, so the 83.8" top gives three people a comfortable place setting on each long side plus one at each end. A rectangular top like this also seats more people than a round table of similar width.

The 35.4" depth is just under the common 36–42" range for dining tables, so the table feels a little slimmer in the room while still leaving space for a serving dish down the middle.

Plan for at least 36" (3 feet) of clearance on every side so people can pull out chairs and walk behind seated guests; 42–48" is more comfortable next to a busy walkway.

With 36" of clearance, this 83.8" × 35.4" table needs a floor area of roughly 155.8" × 107.4" (about 13 ft × 9 ft). Mark the tabletop outline on the floor with painter's tape before ordering to check the walkways.

The table is 31.1" tall, slightly above the 28–30" standard dining height, which gives a little more leg room under the top.

For comfort, leave about 10–12" between the chair seat and the tabletop, so chairs with a seat height of roughly 19–21" pair well. Under the top, the legs are about 65" apart along the length and 32.3" apart across the width, so standard dining chairs tuck in easily along both long sides.

The tabletop is rated for 330 lbs. That covers a fully set table for eight, heavy cast-iron serving dishes, large centerpieces or a work setup with monitors and books.

Spread heavy items across the surface rather than stacking them at one edge, and never sit or stand on the table.

Yes. Under the top, a reinforced steel frame and four anti-deformation crossbars help keep the long surface flat over time. Metal corner brackets and triangular reinforcement panels lock the apron boards to the legs to reduce wobble.

The legs are thick 5.9" × 1.6" boards, and felt pads on each foot protect hard floors from scratches. Re-tighten the hardware every few months, as with any assembled table.

The top has a 2 cm (about 0.8") side edge with a 2.5 cm inward bevel underneath, so it reads as a slim, softened edge rather than a thick slab. The beveled underside gives the table a lighter look and a more comfortable edge to lean against.

The black walnut-tone open-grain finish shows natural wood texture and pairs with mid-century modern and modern dining rooms.

Dust the table regularly and wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth; clean spills right away, and light water marks and everyday spills wipe off easily. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and excessive moisture.

Use coasters, placemats or heat pads under hot dishes, drinks and wet items, and keep the table out of prolonged direct sunlight to help the dark finish keep its color.

Yes. The table ships in one box (91.34" × 22.83" × 10.83", 129.19 lbs), so plan for two people to carry it inside. Assembly takes about 45 minutes with a screwdriver.

Return shipping fees are deducted from the refund after inspection: $80 per package each way for courier delivery ($160 in total), or $300 per item each way for truck delivery ($600 in total).
