Kitchen Island with Built-in Bench & Storage

The Homsee Kitchen Island with Built-in Bench & Storage measures 94.4" W × 39.3" D × 37" H, with a 1.6"-thick marble-look painted top. It is a large island, close to the 4 × 8 feet many planners treat as ideal, and it weighs 478.7 lbs assembled.

Plan for 36–48" of clear floor on every side, so the whole footprint needs about 166" × 111" (roughly 14 × 9 feet) of open floor at 36" clearance.

One long side is a 63"-wide upholstered bench set into the island, with an 18.6"-deep seat about 18.1" off the floor and a 19" back. The channel-tufted cushion is covered in a soft woven fabric. The seat is rated for 220 lbs.

With about 24" per person, the bench seats two adults comfortably, or three children. Pair it with a dining table or a couple of chairs on the other side for a banquette-style breakfast nook.

It combines 6 drawers, 4 cabinets and open shelving:

• 3 large drawers under the bench, each 20" W × 13.8" D × 9.8" H
• 3 shallower drawers on the prep side, each 21" W × 13.8" D × 6.7" H
• Cabinets with interior shelves on the prep side
• Arched open shelves on the ends for cookbooks and bowls

Drawers are rated for 11 lbs and shelves for 22 lbs, so keep heavy cookware on the cabinet floors.

The countertop is a marble-look painted surface over engineered wood, not natural stone, and it is rated for 66 lbs. That covers prep, serving dishes and decor, but not heavy appliances or people leaning their full weight on it.

The finish resists scratches, stains and fading. Wipe it with mild soap and water and dry it with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and standing water, use a cutting board for knife work, and use coasters and placemats to protect the surface.

The structure is MDF with a painted white finish, framed recessed-panel doors, matte black knobs and handles, and the marble-look top. It is engineered wood, not solid wood.

Put the bench side facing the dining area or the window and the prep side facing the main kitchen counters, so the cook works on one side while family sits on the other. That arrangement also helps an open-plan kitchen read as two zones.

Leave at least 36" between the prep side and your counters, and allow extra space in front of the bench so people can sit down and stand up without blocking the walkway.

Yes. It ships flat-packed in 5 boxes, from 29.1" × 22" × 13.6" up to 68.9" × 28" × 8.9", weighing about 88–134 lbs each, so plan for two people to carry and assemble it.

You can request a return within 30 days of delivery. The item must be unused, unassembled, undamaged and in its original packaging, so keep the boxes until you're sure it's right for you.

Return shipping fees are deducted from the refund after inspection: $80 per package each way for courier delivery ($160 in total), or $300 per item each way for truck delivery ($600 in total). Furniture bought on homsee.com has a 2-year limited warranty covering materials and manufacturing defects, structural frame parts, workmanship, and non-lighting electronic components. Fabrics, seat cushions, leather covers and LED lighting are covered for 1 year.
