The Homsee Double Bookcase with Rolling Ladder measures 86.6" H × 78.7" W × 13.2" D, so it fits under a standard 8-foot (96") ceiling with about 9" to spare. That clearance is also enough to tilt the assembled unit upright.

At 78.7" wide, it covers most of a typical wall like a built-in library, using vertical space that would otherwise sit empty, so you need fewer extra cabinets. Its slim 13.2" depth keeps walkways open in a home office, study or living room.

Each laminate shelf supports up to 33 lbs. Shelves are 10.8" deep with about 12.9" of vertical clearance, which is slightly taller than the typical 8–12" spacing on standard bookcases, so most hardcovers, binders and framed photos stand upright.

Loading a particle board or MDF shelf past its rating can cause sagging over time. Spread heavy books evenly, keep the heaviest on the lower tiers, and reserve the top tier, reached by the ladder, for decorative items or books you rarely need.

It has two side-by-side bays, each with 6 open tiers, for 12 open compartments in total. A full-width rail runs across both bays near the top, so the ladder can reach either side.

The all-open layout keeps books and décor visible and easy to grab. If you also want closed storage, pair it with a cabinet from the bookcases and display cabinets collection.

The metal ladder is rated for up to 220 lbs. It hooks onto a heavy-duty metal rail, glides smoothly left to right across the full frame so every high shelf is reachable without a wobbly step stool, and rests at a stable 75° leaning angle.

Lean the ladder fully against the rail before climbing, use it on a level floor, and don't let children use it as a climbing toy.

Yes. Anti-tip wall brackets are included, and the bookcase should be secured to the wall before you load the shelves or use the ladder. A tall, loaded bookcase can tip forward when someone climbs or pulls on it.

Fasten the brackets into wall studs where possible, or use anchors rated for your wall type, such as drywall, plaster or masonry.

The bookcase is made of particle board and MDF, with a matte black frame and warm wood-grain laminate shelves. The two-tone finish gives it an industrial, library-style look.

The surface is water, stain, mold and mildew resistant. Wipe it with a dry cloth, or a damp cloth for smudges, and dry it right away.

You can request a return within 30 days of delivery. The item must be unused, unassembled, undamaged and in its original packaging, so keep the boxes until you're sure it's right for you.

Return shipping fees are deducted from the refund after inspection: $80 per package each way for courier delivery ($160 in total), or $300 per item each way for truck delivery ($600 in total). Furniture bought on homsee.com has a 2-year limited warranty covering materials and manufacturing defects, structural frame parts, workmanship, and non-lighting electronic components. Fabrics, seat cushions, leather covers and LED lighting are covered for 1 year.
