Award-winning arched modular display wall with integrated lighting

Award-Winning Bookcases and Display Cabinets: Build a Modular Storage Wall

A built-in library wall is one of those features that makes a room feel finished, but custom cabinetry is expensive and stays behind when you move. Homsee's bookcases and display cabinets are designed to stand side by side, so you can build that wall from freestanding modules, one cabinet at a time. Three of our collections have won international design awards in 2026. This guide explains what each award recognized and how to plan a modular storage wall with them.

Luma Library: MUSE Design Awards Gold Winner

MUSE Design Awards 2026 Gold Winner badge

The Luma Library received the MUSE Gold award for combining open display, integrated lighting and hidden storage in one modular system modeled on custom built-in libraries. Every Luma cabinet is 92.5 in tall, so modules line up across the wall without a step at the top.

What makes it work

  • LED ambient lighting with a remote. You can adjust brightness and lighting modes without reaching into the cabinet.
  • Push-to-open drawers and handle-free fronts, which keep the wall clean and flat.
  • Textured stone-look back panels in the open compartments, which add depth behind books and décor.
  • Anti-tip design and anti-collision bumpers on doors and drawers.

Most pieces come in both Natural and Brown finishes.

Archlight Library: MUSE Design Awards Silver Winner

MUSE Design Awards 2026 Silver Winner badge

The Archlight Library won MUSE Silver for its arched design and the way it combines storage, display and lighting into the look of custom architecture. Each module has a softly arched frame and layered crown molding, and its lighting is aimed at what's on the shelves.

What makes it work

  • Dimmable integrated lighting with a remote. Some models add metal triangle lights angled 45° downward to wash each shelf.
  • A mix of shelf heights (23.6 in and 13 in), so tall vases and stacked books both fit.
  • Glass doors or open shelves above, with drawers below for things you'd rather hide.
  • Solid and manufactured wood construction with an anti-tip device.

Build your Archlight wall

Start with the Arched Display Cabinet with Glass Doors (37 in W), the Mixed Storage model (52.6 in W) or the Open Shelving model (68.5 in W). You can also go straight to a set: the Arched Open Shelving Set of 2 (126 in W), or the Grand Arched Modular Wall Unit, which covers 147.2 in of wall.

Ladder Library: French Design Awards Gold Winner

French Design Awards 2026 Gold Winner badge

The Double Bookcase with Rolling Ladder and 6-Tier Shelves won French Design Gold as a modern take on the classic home library. It pairs six tiers of open shelving and warm wood tones with a contrasting metal frame and a ladder that glides along a rail.

  • 86.6 in H × 78.7 in W, at only 13.2 in deep. It covers a wall without crowding the room.
  • The rail-mounted ladder slides across the full width, so every top shelf is within reach.
  • Each shelf holds 33 lb, with a 400 lb total rating for the unit.
  • Each shelf is about 10.8 in deep with 12.9 in of clearance, which fits hardcovers and display pieces.

How to Plan a Modular Storage Wall

  1. Measure the wall width and ceiling height. Most of our tall modules are 92.5 in high. Stand-up clearance is the diagonal of the cabinet when you tilt it upright, so allow about 95 in.
  2. Choose one collection and keep to it. Matching heights, depths and finishes make a set of freestanding units read as one built-in.
  3. Mix closed and open storage. A good balance is roughly one-third display (glass or open shelves) to two-thirds closed storage (drawers and doors).
  4. Center the focal point. Put the most decorative module, such as an arched or lit glass cabinet, in the middle and plainer storage modules on the sides.
  5. Plan for power. LED lighting needs an outlet nearby, so check where your outlets are before you finalize the layout.
  6. Anchor every unit. Use the included anti-tip hardware and fasten each module to a stud.

Beyond the Award Winners

The collection also includes the hand-carved-look Relievo series, which uses USB touch lighting and comes in a narrower 14.5 in depth, the Grand Framed-Glass Library Cabinet and the Ladder Bookcase Wall Unit with Corner Cabinet for L-shaped rooms. FAQ

Can I combine cabinets from different collections?

You can, but heights and depths differ between collections (for example, Luma is 16.5 in deep and Archlight is 18.9 in deep). For a seamless built-in look, stay within one collection.

Do the lights in modular sets work together?

Each cabinet has its own lighting. In Luma and Archlight cabinets, brightness is controlled by remote. Plan an outlet or a neatly routed power strip for each lit module.

Which award-winning collection is best for a small room?

Start with a single module, such as the 31.5 in Luma 2-Door Glass Display Cabinet or the 37 in Archlight Glass Door cabinet. Add matching modules later as your space allows.
