The set includes 4 chairs, so it seats 4 out of the box. The table seats up to 8 people, so you can add chairs later. The same chair is sold separately in sets of 2, 4, 6 or 8 and matches this set exactly.

Each chair is 22.5" wide, roomier than the 16–20" of a typical dining chair, with a 34.5" back height. Its 19.3" seat falls in the standard 18–20" range and leaves about 11.8" between the seat and the 31.1" tabletop, inside the recommended 10–12" for comfortable legroom.

At about 24–30" of table length per diner, the long top fits three place settings on each side and one at each end; a rectangular top seats more people than a round table of similar width.

The 40.1" depth is at the generous end of the 36–42" range for dining tables, leaving room for platters, candles and a centerpiece down the middle.

The top is built as two panels with a 0.8" center seam. The gap gives the wood room for natural seasonal movement, which helps reduce warping over time, and adds a linear detail to the broad surface.

It also works as a cable channel: you can drop laptop, lamp or charger cords through the seam when the table doubles as a work or homework station, keeping the surface clear.

Plan for at least 36" of clearance around the table so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk behind seated guests, and 42–48" next to a main walkway.

With 36" on every side, this 83.8" × 40.1" table needs a floor area of roughly 155.8" × 112.1" (about 13 ft × 9.3 ft). Tape the outline on the floor to check walkways before you order.

Spread heavy items across both top panels rather than loading one edge, and don't sit or stand on the table.

Four triangular support plates fix the tabletop to the leg panels, and two long crossbeams run between the legs to form a stable support path that reduces wobble and improves long-term strength.

The 1.2"-thick top has gently rounded edges that are softer to bump into, and felt pads under the legs protect floors and reduce noise when the table is moved.

Dust the table regularly and wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth, cleaning spills right away. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and excessive moisture, and use coasters, placemats or heat pads under hot dishes, drinks and wet items.

Keep the table out of prolonged direct sunlight to reduce fading. Vacuum or brush crumbs out of the center seam occasionally, and check and tighten the hardware periodically.

Yes. The seat is filled with 24D high-resilience foam that rebounds after you stand up, so it resists sagging and keeps its shape with daily use. The thick padded cushion, the wide upholstered backrest and the slightly raised side arms give a wrapped-in feel for long dinners and conversations.

Upholstered chairs are generally more comfortable than hard wood seats for lingering meals, and the 18.5" seat depth suits most adults.

The table takes about 45 minutes to assemble, and the chair manual rates each velvet chair as easy, about 15 minutes. Plan for two people, because the table box alone weighs well over 100 lbs.

Return shipping fees are deducted from the refund after inspection: $80 per package each way for courier delivery ($160 in total), or $300 per item each way for truck delivery ($600 in total).
