The set includes 4 chairs, so it seats 4 out of the box. The 83.9" table seats up to 8 people, so you can add chairs later. The same chair is sold separately in sets of 2, 4, 6 or 8 and matches this set exactly.

Each chair has a 19.3" seat height, inside the standard 17–23" range for dining chairs, and an upholstered seat for long meals. Choose a set size for the people you seat every day, then plan extra chairs if you host often.

The Homsee Plank table measures 83.9" L × 39.4" W × 31.1" H, with a 1.6"-thick two-piece top. It stands on two wide black trapezoid pedestal legs set in from the ends, and weighs about 116 lbs.

The 39.4" depth is generous for a dining table, leaving room for serving dishes down the middle or a deep workspace, and at 31.1" it sits slightly above the standard 28–30" table height.

Plan for a room of at least 13 ft × 9.3 ft (about 156" × 111"). That leaves the recommended 36" of clearance on every side of the 83.9" × 39.4" top, enough to pull out chairs and sit down.

If people walk behind seated diners or a sideboard stands along one wall, allow 42–48" on that side. Long rectangular tables suit long or narrow rooms; measure first and mark the outline with painter's tape.

The tabletop is rated for 220 lbs. A grid-style wood frame under the 1.6"-thick top supports the long tabletop from underneath and ties it to the trapezoid pedestal legs, and concealed connector caps hide the hardware. The design is built to resist wobble.

Like a trestle base, the two pedestal legs leave the long sides free for legroom. Felt pads under the legs protect floors, and chamfered edges soften the top. Check and tighten the hardware periodically.

The top has an aged-oak, distressed open-pore finish that lets the grain show through, paired with black legs. It's rated scratch-, stain-, fade- and warp-resistant.

Upholstered chairs are generally more comfortable than hard wood seats for lingering meals, and the 18.5" seat depth suits most adults.

The chair is upholstered in soft Dutch velvet in an ivory white tone, over a metal frame with gold-tone legs.

To keep it looking fresh:

• Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment to remove dust
• Spot clean with a clean, slightly damp cloth and a mild cleaner, and blot spills right away
• Don't soak the fabric or use bleach, abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals
• Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to reduce fading

Check and tighten the hardware from time to time so the chair stays steady.

Return shipping fees are deducted from the refund after inspection: $80 per package each way for courier delivery ($160 in total), or $300 per item each way for truck delivery ($600 in total).
