The set includes 8 chairs, so it seats 8 out of the box. With 8 chairs, this set already fills the table's full seating: three chairs on each long side and one at each end. Allow about 24–30" of table length per diner so everyone has elbow room.

Each chair has a 19.3" seat height, inside the standard 17–23" range for dining chairs, and an upholstered seat for long meals. Choose a set size for the people you seat every day, then plan extra chairs if you host often.

The Homsee Oval-End Grand table measures 90.6" L × 43.3" W × 31.1" H, with a 1.9"-thick top that has fully rounded ends. Its two wide panel legs, each about 28.7" across, stand 56.1" apart, and the assembled table weighs 176.4 lbs.

At 43.3" wide, it's deeper than most 36–40" dining tables, which leaves room for serving platters down the middle. It sits slightly above the standard 28–30" table height.

Plan for a room of at least 13.6 ft × 9.6 ft (about 163" × 115"). That leaves the recommended 36" of clearance around the 90.6" × 43.3" top for pulling out chairs.

Allow 42–48" on any side where people walk behind seated diners. The rounded ends soften traffic flow, so it fits a long room more easily than a square-cornered table of the same size. Measure the room and any furniture that stays before you order.

The tabletop is rated for 440 lbs. A support frame under the 1.9"-thick top ties it to two wide panel pedestal legs, and felt pads under the legs protect floors and keep the table quiet when it's moved. Like a trestle base, the two inset panel legs leave the long sides free for legroom.

A black stainless steel edge trim wraps the top to protect the edge from chips and bumps. Spread heavy items across the top, and check the hardware periodically to keep it steady.

The top has a warm brown wood-grain finish rated scratch-, stain- and fade-resistant.

Upholstered chairs are generally more comfortable than hard wood seats for lingering meals, and the 18.5" seat depth suits most adults.

The chair is upholstered in soft Dutch velvet in an ivory white tone, over a metal frame with gold-tone legs.

To keep it looking fresh:

• Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment to remove dust
• Spot clean with a clean, slightly damp cloth and a mild cleaner, and blot spills right away
• Don't soak the fabric or use bleach, abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals
• Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to reduce fading
